Ford Mustang 1965 Description

1965 MustangNOTE: I will be available to show the car as well as start it on Saturday July 25th. I may also be available to show the car on Saturday July 18th or Sunday July 19th. Please contact me through eBay to schedule a showing. I live about 1 hour away from the car and do not want to be running back and forth all of the time to show the car. This car belonged to my aunt who hardly ever drove it. It has been garaged since 1971 and last driven in 1988. Most of the miles drive during that time were most likely my grandfather driving the car to and from the shop for the annual state inspection. Then in 1988 my grandfather decided it was silly to keep on paying for insurance and inspections for a car that was not being driven. We believe that my aunt would tell the insurance company that she was driving the car all of the time when she was not driving it, ecause she thought that they might not insure her or renew her drivers license if she said she was not actually driving the car. We don't know if she reported imaginary miles driven when the car was registered each year, ut the odometer has the correct mileage on it. I only recall my aunt driving me in the car 2 or 3 times when I was very young. BODY COLOR TRIM DATE DSO AXLE TRANS WARRANTY NUMBER THIS VEHICLE IS MANUFACTURED UNDER UNITED STATES

Sorry for making the above description a bit messy. When I realized that 3 wide pictures was hard to see I tried replacing the description with 2 wide pictures and it appended that to the description and that does not look too nice either. Anyway here are some details:
My parents asked me to sell this car as part of an estate sale.
WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE CARI can SHOW you the car and can START THE ENGINE it for you on these two days (starting the car requires hooking it up to a gas can so as to not use the 27 year old gas in the car's gas tank and my parents would not be able to hook up the car to the gas can):

  • Saturday July 18th
  • Saturday July 25th
I might be able to get my parents to show you the car on other days, ut they don't really want to be bothered with showing the car. Keep in mind, hey will not be able to start the car for you to see the engine running. I live about an hour away from the car, o I don't really want to be running over to Warminster to show the car and start it every day.
56,942 MILES, ARAGED SINCE 1971, AST DRIVEN IN 1988, ERY RARELY DRIVEN IN THE 1971-1998 PERIODThis car belonged to my aunt who hardly ever drove it. It has been garaged since 1971 and last driven in 1988. Most of the miles driven during that time were most likely my grandfather driving the car to and from the shop for the annual state inspection. Then in 1988 my grandfather decided it was silly to keep on paying for insurance and inspections for a car that my aunt rarely drove. We believe that my aunt would tell the insurance company that she was driving the car all of the time even though she was not, ecause she thought that they might not insure her or renew her drivers license if she said she was not actually driving the car. We don't know if she reported imaginary miles driven when the car was registered each year, ut the odometer has the correct mileage on it. I only recall my aunt driving me in the car 2 or 3 times when I was very young.
The odometer reads 56,942. A sticker shows the oil was changed at 56,520 in 1978. With the car last driven in 1988, hat shows that the car only driven 422 miles in the 10 year span of 1978 to 1988. It was likely driven about an equal amount between 1971 and 1978.
VERY ORIGINAL SOLID CAR WITH SOME REAR QUARTER PANEL RUSTPurchased used in 1971 and rarely driven and kept in a garage. This means that has most of the original parts on it. The floor pans and pinch welds look solid. There is some rust at the rear quarter panels, ut that is apparently very common for classic Mustangs.
THE ENGINE HAS BEEN STARTED, HE TRANSMISSION WORKS, NE BRAKE IS LOCKEDWhat would be your concerns with a car that has not moved since 1988?
  • Will the car start? YES
  • Does the transmission work? YES
  • Can the tires hold air? YES (well maybe for a day or so)
  • Can I drive the car home? NO, ou will need to have the car towed or transported
A friend and did the following to start the car:
  • New battery
  • Changed the oil
  • New spark plugs
  • New condenser
  • New points
  • New fuel filter
  • Topped off coolant and transmission fluid
  • By passed 27 year old gas in the gas tank and attached the fuel pump to a gas can
Why you cannot drive the car:
  • One of the brakes is frozen
  • The brake pedal goes to the floor
  • The tires are shot and I was very surprised that they even hold air at all
  • You don't want to run the car with the 27 year old gas in the tank
You might wonder how I know the transmission works:
  • We jacked the rear of the car off the ground in the garage to see if the transmission worked (with a front brake locked, e did not try to see if the car would back out of the garage with the risk we could not get it back in the garage)
  • Drive, ow and reverse worked with the rear end jacked up
What about electrical stuff:
  • We tried all of the switches, tc. It all worked.
    • Exterior lights
    • Interior lights
    • Brake lights
    • Turn signals
    • I was able to tune the AM radio to a channel with some nice old fashion static sound
