Ford F-350 1978 Description

You are bidding on a very nice two-owner 1978 Ford F-350 XLT Ranger Super Cab Camper Special two wheel drive pickup. This is a rare truck featuring the high-line XLT Ranger trim and interior package, Super Cab extend cab body style, heavy-duty 1-ton suspension, the big 460 4v engine, and fully loaded with options, including A/C, cruise, tilt steering column, tool box, dual tanks (both are operational), power steering, power brakes, receiver trailer hitch, trailer brake, and more. She still looks beautiful in original Medium Copper and White two-tone paint; no significant rust issues in, out, or under. The front and rear bumpers are nice, grill and surround excellent, and XLT trim great. The truck has lightweight aluminum wheels with almost new Wild Country radial tires. She is in turnkey running and driving condition; runs and drives just great, and is a pleasure to drive. Newer full dual exhaust sounds great, not loud, but you can hear the power of the big engine. Easy cold starts, and she idles down properly when warmed up, runs cool. The truck inspires confidence when driven, not concern. I'd drive it across the country without worry. The interior is still nice, with the original carpet, Super Cab-specific split back front bench seat, and rare rear bench seat which folds flat for cargo. The upholstery, dash pad, gauge cluster, door panels, headliner, etc. are all in very nice condition, with minor wear appropriate for a well-maintained vehicle of the era. The gauge cluster is excellent, and all gauges work. The cruise control works properly, and the truck cruises comfortably at freeway speeds, running cool and smooth. Under the hood, you will find the original optional big 460 4v 7.5L V8, one of the best engines Ford ever built... tons of power. Newer battery, fresh fuel filter and hoses, new plgs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. Runs great; get in, turn the key, and go.The body is extremely straight, with a very clean and solid underside with no rust problems. Floors are solid and perfect, cab mounts great, the entire underside very clean and not scaly. The truck came with the optional built-in bedside tool box, which is in great condition in and out as well. The original paint is thin in areas, but sound, beautiful, and still shiny. These are all the "issues" I can find to mention: There is very minor rust where the bulkhead meets the bed floor (pinholes), and at the body seam halfway up inside the door jamb (minor bubbling under the paint... very small area, and almost not worth mentioning), the windshield has a crack stemming from a rock chip, there isn't a radio in the dash currently, the A/C belt is off (compressor turns freely; probably needs to be recharged), and there is a minor oil leak, source unknown. This is a fantastic example of what I think is Ford's best design era... the '78-'79 trucks were the pinnacle of 70's styling, in my opinion. The XLT Ranger option on the Super Cab body is about as good as it gets... dress it up further with all the power train and convenience options, and you've got a wonderful and rare classic truck.Clear title in hand; matches the VIN exactly for inspection and/or export. You may call me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you might have. Please be prepared to remit payment within 3 days of auction's end via bank wire transfer, or deposit into my Bank of America account. While every effort has been made to describe the truck as accurately as possible, it is in fact a 37-year-old classic, and therefore being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee, expressed, written, or implied. I am not a professional vehicle inspector, rather a classic auto enthusiast with a good eye. I've gone over her thoroughly and disclosed everything I could find, positive and negative. This is a great truck and is going to make someone very happy!
