Ford F-250 1978 Description

1978 Ford F250 4x4 pick-up
Reluctantly I have decided to let this beautiful truck go. I searched for years to find the nicest late 70's model F250 I could find with the intention of doing a Cummins diesel engine swap project. I have come to realize that I just don't have the time to get this done. I've only managed to drive it about 100 miles since I bought it about 5 years ago so it's obvious that it's just not getting the attention that it should. Believe me - the wife doesn't let me forget about that fact either.
The truck is very highly optioned Ranger XLT model with both "Camper Special" and "Trailer Special" packages, ig block 460 engine, 6 automatic, x4, ir conditioning, ocking hood release, ual fuel tanks, ruise control, ery rare option Dana 60 "Snowfighter" front (610023-6) and rear (603901-6) axles, tc.
The exterior body is very straight and clean with only the slightest bit of rustbeginning to bubble through the paint around the gutter trim of the super cab windows and some very minor surface rust on the few dings in the bed (please see photos) The rest of the body is essentially rust free. The exterior paint is shiny and while there are some signs that a portion of the blue has been touched up, t was nicely done. I believe the majority of it could still be original paint. The exterior trim is all there and in great condition. The interior is fantastic for being almost 38 years old - the seats show only the slightest bit of wear, o cracks in the dash pad, arpet is clean and not faded, he headliner is perfect, he door panels are not broken although the elastic on the vinyl pockets is stretched out a little, lass is not cracked and yes, he period correct gun rack is included! All the dash gauges and warning lights work properly, ll the exterior lights work as well.
The stock Ford steel wheels have been sandblasted and powdercoated and then a brand new set of load range E 16" tires were mounted. The tires don't even have 20 miles on them since they were mounted. There are new N.O.S. hub caps front and rear, owever the front hub caps were not installed when the photos were taken. The front bumper is new and looks perfect.
The truck drives as good as it looks - nice and straight down the road with no vibrations. The power steering works well, he automatic transmission shifts positively, he air conditioner works, x4 system is all in working order, he power brakes work well and the trucks stops straight and true. The engine is a 460ci and has an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold and newer carburetor and air cleaner on it. The odometer reads 14682 however, suspect actual miles are 114682.
While the truck is not perfect and does show signs of being used, t's going to be very hard to find one this nice that hasn't been fully restored. Issues that I'm aware of - There is an aftermarket radio with equalizer installed that don't work. The tailgate latch release rod seems to have come off the mechanism inside. The water pump weep hole does appear to be leaking a little water however then engine does run fine at normal temperature.
Not inlcuded in the auction but available at additonal cost - I also have a nice low mile (67,000) 2004 Cummins engine with the ECU and "drive-by-wire" throttle pedal, ate model Superduty Ford transfer case, ummins/Ford adapter, otor mounts, ngine conversion manual. I don't have a transmission yet because my intention was just order a rebuilt 4R100 overdrive transmission when I was ready for it rather than installing a used one with unknown history.
