Jeep CJ 1985 Description

This CJ7 was professionally restored in North Carolina’s NASCAR country by "Bunton's Rod Shop". The shops' cars and trucks have appeared in Hot Rod and Super Chevy magazines among others. This Jeep was in excellent solid condition before the restoration. frame. doors. tailgate and body with no accidents. The steel was stripped and the frame properly prepared for primer and painting. There were no problems in the usual places before the restore like on the body where the roll bars mount. sides of the tub below and forward of the lower door hinges. the body support channels that run fore and aft under the floor. as well as on the frame by the pads where body mount biscuits rest. and etc. -'Novak Conversions' were consulted about using the Tremac T-176 tranny (which was completely rebuilt before the restoration). The tech guys stipulated that with the application that was chosen for this Jeep (daily driver. off-roading. etc. ). that the T-176 would certainly be adequate behind this LS engine but that their Kit "G176" (adapting the Jeep T176 transmission to GM bellhousing) should be used. Kit came with the adapter. bellhousing locator / throwout sleeve. seal. o-ring. and fastening hardware. They indicated that if this Jeep was going to be used for mud slinging. weekly burnouts at stop signals. and etc. . that owner should look to an upgrade to the T-176. They also said to use the gear-driven Dana 300 due to it's strength. compactness. and servicibility. The Dana 300 was used in this Jeep restoration. After pics were taken. note that I changed the rear exhaust so that both extend beyond the rear bumper. then added a set of new solid. stainless. turn-down tips and it looks great. and sounds amazing! This CJ7 Jeep was frame-off. nuts and bolts. complete rotisserie restored with performance and reliability in mind. Only the highest quality parts available were used. It has about every stainless steel and polished part that is available for a CJ. There are +/- 1940 good weather miles on her and it has been garage kept. pampered. and protected since the restoration. I just don’t know how anyone could build one any nicer! The body and doors are all steel and the red paint is as slick as glass.
