Plymouth Satellite 1969 Description

Attention collectors: 1969 Plymouth Satellite 6 passenger wagon in good condition with only 88,000 miles! Drop in a big-block and have a pseudo-Road Runner at 1/3 the price. Plus you can easily haul the whole family to cruise nights with chairs and coolers! The drivetrain is a 318/727/8.25” rear, ith power drum brakes and power steering. The fender tag is in place (option codes B51, 21, 33, 91, 35, 11, 44, 31).

The body is in very good condition with only one small rusted spot in front of the driver’s rear wheel opening. There is no rust at all in the quarter panels. See pics. The floors and undercarriage are in great condition. It appears that the car was thoroughly undercoated during production. The tailgate folds down and also swings to the side like it should.

The history: I purchased this car from the widow of a fellow local Mopar club member who died of cancer. I know the person he bought it from very well and the car was stored at his place out of the weather in a shed for approximately 20 years. It was not driven at all because the transmission did not shift properly. That explains the low miles and remarkable interior condition.

When I got the car I had to replace the master cylinder and once I drove it I realized that the transmission (904) would not upshift into drive, lus reverse took a while to kick in. To fix it I installed a much stouter 727 Torqueflite that I had out of a 66K mile ’73 Polara. Now the car drives perfectly. Auction winner can have the original 904 (but why?).

I had the front seat recovered at a cost of $600. The previous owner had installed ugly bucket seats out of Duster, nd the original bench seat sat out in the weather for a while, hich is why it needed reupholstered. Unfortunately the original front seat belts are now pretty weathered. The rest of the interior (dashpad, eadliner, arpet, oor panels, tc) is in very nice condition.

Glass is all good, ith no cracks in the windshield. The power tailgate window even works very well! All of the lights work as they should.

I replaced all the tires with like-new 15” tires on Mopar police wheels with dog dish caps. The trim rings are brand new. The car comes with the complete jack assembly and a compact spare.

As you might expect with a car that’s over 45 years old, here are a couple of imperfections that bear mentioning: The paint is faded, ut may buff out, nd there are a few spots of surface rust. The luggage rack was removed at some point and has been lost over the intervening years. The driver’s mirror is not original and I installed one that I had on hand and cut off the remote control cables. One of the rear interior cargo area panels is dented. The rear end whines slightly (lube checked & is full), ut wouldn’t be noticeable with a stereo on or over passenger conversation. The AM radio does not work – I replaced the broken antenna, hecked the fuses, nd speaker connection but it’s still inop.

The car includes a clean Montana title in my name and two sets of keys. It’s spent its entire life in the “high desert” of Helena, T and has not been subjected to humidity or corrosion-causing elements so it’s in truly remarkable overall condition.

Aug 3, pm: Added pictures of the underside/floor pans. Also want to mention that the horn works, here's a tag on the differential indicating 2.71 gears; and when the car was up on the lift today, noticed that bumpers have a few dings in them - like the car's been parked by braille.

In response to a question I received asking why the engine is blue vs the "correct" 1969 red, oday I verified that the VIN stamped on the engine block matches the vehicle VIN and fender tag. Therefore I would say that the engine is original to the car.
