Studebaker Commander 1956 Description

This is a 1956 Studebaker Commander 4dr. I bought the car in 2001 and restored the mechanical parts of the car. I have been using it as my work car for the Chapter on spring tours and shows to haul tables, ce chests and all the other stuff for meets. The car has 76,555 miles on it now. I rebuilt a 58 289 engine for it bored 30 with 10/10 crank, barrel, D alum timing gear, orted and gasket matched, ertronix ignition in a Delco window dist, elco alternator and converted the air cleaner to a dry element. It has been driven about 4,000 miles. The transmission was redone also and has first gear start. I installed an AC compressor mount and pulleys on the engine to add Ac. Thechassis was cleaned and painted. The front end was rebuilt with urathane bushings, ew shocks, joints, ront spring, enter point pivot rebuilt, pring bushings. Brakes were rebuilt and work good. The car has Silvertone Dual Stainless exhaust system Car is good and solid and has had one repaint about 20 years back. It has been kept inside or covered under a shed most of its life. The paint has chips in it but still looks pretty good. The floors and trunk are solid. They were cleaned and painted when i was working on it. There is a small crease on the trunk and a dent in the left front bumper. The trim and rest of the body is good. Windows go up and down and gaskets are in fair shape. It needs a new headliner (included), arpet and new seat upolestry. Door pannels and dash are pretty good shape. I made a new package shelf cover. I just never got arround to finishing up this car because it was used mostly to haul club stuff. It runs and drives good. It can be driven anywhere. It has a 331 rear axle and with first gear start it will run strong. It is a good driver as is. I bought a station wagon to use on tours so this car is for sale.
