Dodge Charger 1970 Description
Up for auction, ithout a reserve, s a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T project car. This car is a factory original R/T, nd came with 440 cubic inch engine, emi 4 speed transmission, nd a 3.54 Dana 60 rear end, nd is fender coded as a Track Pack car. The Six Pack intake and carbs were added at a later date. Some history on the car may be of help in understanding the condition. Sometime in the 1990’s, he current owner bought this car for a restoration project. By profession he was a body and fender mechanic, die-hard Mopar guy, nd loved the 1968-1970 Dodge Chargers. He promptly started a restoration, isassembled some of the car, nd started prepping the car for metal work and paint. He got most of the paint stripped off, ook out the glass, nd took off all the chrome trim and molding. As often happens, amily comes along, e purchased the body shop where he had been working, nd customer cars come first. The Charger project got pushed to the back of the shop and covered with a tarp, here it has set for about the last 20 years. When he pulled the car out of hibernation, t did not look very good. It was a patch work of green paint and primer spots, nd some of the bare metal had a slight surface rust, ven after being stored indoors. As a protective coating he sprayed the entire car with primer. There is no bondo in the car, e sprayed primer over the dents and dings, nd rust spots as a protective coating. I am selling this car for a friend that is a non-ebay user, ho now has kids going to college, nd fall tuition is due. He has all the parts that came off the car when he disassembled it 20 years ago, nd are included with the car, long with a new rear valance. The windshield was broken and discarded, he 6pk air cleaner is missing, nd undoubtedly some other minor parts as well. The original 1970 440 motor has been replaced with a 1969 440, ut the original 4 speed transmission, nd the original Dana 60 rear end are still in place. This is a nice dry western US car, ith minimal rust. It has spent most of its life indoors, s evidenced with the lack of rust around the hood hinge area and floor pans, nd only minor rust in the lower rear quarters. The trunk floor is pitted but with only a couple of “little finger” size holes, hat could be easily repaired. There is some rust spots in the rear window area under where the vinyl top has trapped moisture. The frame rails, loors, owl area, nd windshield are rock solid, ith no rust repair required. The entire car has a heavy undercoating, nd the floor pans and frame rails show no rust. See photos. The fender tag reads as follows: Line One (top, eading left to right)· M21 Drip Rail Molding
